  • 1933

    It all began 85 years ago when Samuel Clapper left England to make his fortune supplying Bias Binding and waistbands to the garment industry in South Africa.

  • 1987

    International Trimmings & Labels is born out of SA BIAS, specialising in the manufacture of tapes, ribbons and woven labels for the South African textile industry.

  • 1991

    ITL establishes first offshore operation in the United Kingdom and obtains its first international blue-chip customer accreditation from Marks & Spencer.

  • 1999

    ITL expands to Asia and opens a factory in China…

  • 1999

    … and Sri Lanka

  • 2002-2007

    ITL opens new factories in India, Turkey, and Mexico

  • 2007

    Launch of ITL’s online platform LabelVantage™️ to improve traceability, speed to market and ease of ordering.

  • 2012

    Introduced RFID tags & inlays along with our bespoke ReflectRFID software to answer the call for better inventory accuracy and improved customer experience.

  • 2012

    ITL opens first office in North America in New York City

  • 2013

    We develop our Super-Soft label, which is specifically designed for ultimate comfort with a next-to-skin feel that makes it perfect for intimates as well as children’s and baby wear.

  • 2015

    ITL expands to Bangladesh…

  • 2017

    ITL expands it’s North American presence opening two offices in Toronto and Montreal

  • 2019

    ITL opens a dedicated Sales & Marketing office in Germany to support the growth and development of our Northern European customer base

  • 2019

    intelligen™ wins Retail System’s Best Green Initiative Award.

  • 2020

    ITL expands and opens three new factories in Mauritius, Madagascar and Hanoi

  • 2020

    ITL opens a sales office in Chittagong (Bangladesh) to be as close as possible to our growing customer base there

  • 2020

    We launch our C.A.R.E Collection, a range of conscious, affordable, responsible and eco-friendly alternatives to make our customers’ labels and packaging more sustainable. The sustainable collection also wins Retail Systems Sustainability Initiative of the Year.
